This time in the national capital Delhi, 10 times more number of voters above 100 years of age will vote compared to the last Lok Sabha elections. The number of elderly people aged 100 years or more in Delhi is 1004. For such elderly people, special arrangements will be made by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer to vote in the Lok Sabha elections. It has been observed that elderly voters have more enthusiasm for voting than youth. This is the reason why they do not have to be made aware to vote and if possible, they reach the polling stations using wheelchairs, sticks or any other support to vote.
Election related officials said that for the elderly who are unable to walk, polling booths will be set up at their homes. Arrangements for wheelchairs and e-rickshaws will also be made for those who want to reach the polling stations. The number of elderly voters in the capital has increased more than 10 times compared to the last Lok Sabha elections and currently their number is 1004, of which 541 are male and 463 are female voters.
In such a situation, special arrangements are being made this time to ensure 100 percent voting of these elderly people, so that no elderly person misses out on voting. Special efforts are being made by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi for the voting of the elderly. So that all elderly voters can use their franchise.
There will be two types of arrangements
Two types of arrangements are being made for elderly voters. Those elderly voters who are not in a position to leave their homes and go to the polling booth, will be provided the facility to vote at home. At the same time, for those who can walk, free transport facility is being arranged, which will take them from home to the polling station and then drop them back to home after voting.
1.5 lakh voters above 85 years of age
Let us tell you that there are 1 lakh 588 voters in Delhi who have crossed the age of 85. These include 50 thousand 442 male voters, 50 thousand 142 female voters and four other voters.
